VaLois: Happy to find this blog. Can't stop singing Spooky's praises! He is a fantastic puppy and my husband and I think he is the best doggy we've ever had! He's 9 months now, so I'll be taking photos so you can see how he's progressing. It's uncanny how much he looks like Benny. Thank you again for this perfect puppy!

VaLois, when will you have your next litter? Your upcoming litter page is not current, and I would really like to know when the next Lil Doods litter is coming! Please and thank you.

Thanks, VaLois, for posting the litters! I hope to look into them more, but I'd like to know: What shots do they come with, and how long does the Kindergarten take? Thanks a Million!

Hi
Thanks for following the upcoming litters. Everything is current as to what litters I'm planning. Once eacg girl has been bred I'll post more exact dates. The class gets the puppy started on crate training. It's purely optional and you can leave the puppy for as long as you choose but no longer than 3 weeks. Most people leave them for 1 o 2 weeks. My daughter does the class and gets to hear the puppy cry in the crate so you don't have to!!
The puppies learn to spend short blocks of time during the day in their crate and sleep in it at night. She teaches them basic obedience like "sit" and "come". It is $175/week. Each puppy gets a good start to house training but still needs time to master that.

I just updated the upcoming litters page. Once those girls have been bred I'll have a better idea as to when they will be ready to leave. Glad you're enjoying your neighbor's puppy.

That's great info about the Kindergarten; thanks. But I'm still wondering, what shots do the puppies come with? Thanks for your info, and thanks ahead for the response that I hope will come about the puppy shots.

Hi
Our puppies are given their first 5-way vaccination at 6 weeks of age. They will then need 4 more vaccinations given every 3 weeks. If a puppy stays for class they will receive their 2nd shot before they leave and then will still need 3 more after you get him.

Thanks so much, VaLois! Hopefully I can get one of your puppies soon. I just have one more important question for you: Are you a Christian? I'm not going to judge you, I'm just asking. Thanks a lot!

Hi VaLois, it's me again. I have yet another question about your wonderful puppies! I am still considering getting one, and currently have my eye on the Dwight/Lucy litter. How many reservations do you have on that litter so far? Thanks!

Hi. Lucy had 4 boys and I only had reservations for girls so I do have males available. You would be right at the top

Thanks so much! By the way, are girl dogs better that boys or something, because all the girls get taken! Do you know why?

VaLois link
4/18/2014 06:00:25 am

Good question. Girls are definitely not better than boys. Sometimes the boys are the sweetest of all. Having said that, some people don't want a boy because of the male behaviors that are learned. Quick fix for that is to have the puppy neutered at a very young age and they just simply don't learn the behaviors that people don't like. We've found that in this breed there really isn't a difference in their temperaments at all. Males are typically a little larger than the females but in the miniatures even they are pretty small. Hope that helps

Hi VaLois! I thought I'd ran out of questions... but it turns out I didn't! So, here goes! I was looking at your new puppy pictures and I realized... you have an Autumn/Bandit litter, but Autumn is not on your adults page! Is there a way you could post her, maybe, or tell me about her so I know what's going into the puppies? Thanks in advance!

Hi
I do need to get a picture of Autumn. She is a sister to Amber - from the same litter. They are identical in looks and size. I expect both litters will look very much the same as they were both bred to Bandit

Thanks so much! I don't want to be a bother, but could you please answer just 1 more question? I have filled out a puppy application and am going to place a deposit. The problem is, I don't know what litter to reserve! Is there a way to reserve more than one litter, or will I have to decide? Thanks again!

VALois link

I do need you to choose a litter to reserve a puppy from. You can
however, move to a different litter at any time if there are puppies available in that litter.

VaLois, I have a male mini Goldendoodle from you. We initially said that we would neuter him, but we aren't sure about that anymore. Should we still neuter him? Do we have to?

Hi
We strongly recommend that all puppies get altered. This helps to control unplanned litters as well as unwanted behaviors and is healthier for the dog. Do you have to? No. My health guarantee is valid only on altered dogs but it's your choice. I just believe that shelters have enough dogs in them that we all need to make sure we don't add to the problem. If you decide not to have him neutered please make sure he is always on leash so he can't stray. Hope this helps answer your question.

I'd like to fix him, but I've heard that it can weaken their hips and knees, and that they can also get cancer from fixing. I'm just so indescisive... but I understand about unwanted puppies. I guess I'll see. Thanks!

VaLois
7/26/2014 12:28:41 pm

Hi
Actually they are healthier and less likely to get certain cancers if they are altered. It doesn't affect their hip or knees at all. I'd check with
your vet and ask him those questions.

Okay, I will! But I also want to know... how hard is it to breed dogs? I know that it's not to be taken lightly, and if you don't have potential homes for the puppies, you shouldn't make them. I wouldn't do it without careful research, but It's something I'm passionate about. Is it something feasible, or is it just stupid? Thanks!

Valois, we're so happy with ou little girl, Penny! She slept most of the 31/2 hr ride home just stopping a couple times for potty and snack breaks. She slept in her crate the whole night with barely a whimper. She's going out in the rain to potty like she was born in the area and loves hopping around in the grass. Her big brother is not growling anymore and starting to get curious about the new baby in the house!! We are so in love! We will send pics.

Penny is so smart. Just after two days at home now and she's using our automatic pet door! She wears an electronic collar and it opens when she walks up to it. Kurt built her a ramp for easy access and she sees our older dog using it. She goes out when she needs to potty. She's incredibly smart.

I do remember you. I'm so sorry you lost Clive. I know how much you loved him and I'm so grateful for the loving home you gave him. Thankfully all the wonderful memories through the years do stay with us but it definitely hurts for a time. I will have medium size puppies this spring/summer. Just let me know when you are ready and I'll help you find another wonderful friend.
