Goldendoodles - What's Not to Love?

It's not just the general adorability that makes the Goldendoodle so popular; the main purpose for this superior mixed breed was actually to create a service-oriented dog that was practically hypoallergenic. Because both the Golden Retriever and the Poodle have been competing for years as to which makes the better all-around family pet, the two are bred to create the ultimate in appeal and intelligence.
Personality Type
As you know the Golden Retriever is infamous for its mild temperament and its loyalty while the Poodle is known for its intelligence and air of superiority. Together, you acquire the best of both worlds with a low to non-shedding dog that encompasses the best of both worlds.
Goldendoodles are the absolute in affection and socialability as well. They are fun-loving and interact well with both people and dogs alike. Lil Doods are especially sociable because they are pampered by myself, my children, and my grand-children. They are impossible not to love.
Physical Characteristics
When shopping for your very own Miniature Goldendoodle, it's important to consider your options. There are many physical considerations to weigh such as color, size, and "type" of Goldendoodle. Colors range anywhere from ivories and creams, to goldens, light apricot and reds, to the occasional black Doodle. Miniatures have a tendency to weigh anywhere from 15-35, my Miniatures typically range from 20-30 pounds. There are a few variations of this mixed breed in terms of lineage; the following table denotes the different distinctions:
F1 Goldendoodle = Golden Retriever combined with Poodle
F1-B Goldendoodle =Goldendoodle bred back to Poodle
F2 Goldendoodle =Goldendoodle mixed with Goldendoodle
F3 Goldendoodle =F2 Goldendoodle crossed with F2 Goldendoodle
Beyond F3= Multi-generation Goldendoodle mix
Many of my pup owners favor the size of our minis because they are the perfect intermediary between too big and too small. They're easy to transport and don't require a generous amount of space to get the exercise they require to be happy and healthy. They're also ideal for renters because most rentals that allow pets require that they fall below the 25 pound mark. I've also discovered in my experience that these little teddy bear puppies make a great companion for Senior Citizens as they're super affectionate and loving, but are a breeze to care for and manage.
Health and Well-Being
Another key factor when selecting the ideal Miniature Goldendoodle for you and your family is health. It's not enough to find a cute puppy with desirable breed qualities like a blocky head and teddy bear face alone, your puppy should come with a clean bill of health backed by your breeder. While combining both Golden Retrievers and Poodles makes them less susceptible to complications that plague most purebred dogs, there are potential health issues to be aware of: the two most common are hip displaysia and genetic eye issues. Your breeder should provide you with a health guarantee assuring the health of your new baby. Here at Lil Doods, we insure our pups for two years because we understand the importance of healthy puppy.
Grooming
Our Miniature Goldendoodles really don't require much in terms of grooming. We recommend brushing through them on a weekly basis to reduce matting, but it's really an owner preference when it comes to coat length and shape. Some people prefer a shaven Doodle in the summer, and a longer more "shaggy" coat in the winter. We personally prefer our miniatures to be groomed around the eyes/face so those little teddy bear faces are in plain sight!
